Luke 23:50-53

Meditation

I adore Thee O Christ
and I bless Thee

Because by Thy holy Cross
Thou hast redeemed the world

The multitude have left the heights of Calvary, and none remains save the beloved disciple and the holy women, who at the foot of the cross, share the grief of Christ's afflicted Mother. Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus take down the body of her divine Son from the Cross and lay it in her arms.

Meditate a while in silence

O Mary, blessed Mother of my God,
thou bearest in thine arms
thine only Son, now dead,
who often rested his head in sleep upon thy breast. Pray for me, that as thou holdest him lifeless in death he may bear me up in the hour of my death in his everlasting arms. Amen

Prayers

O God, I love thee with my whole heart and above all things, and am heartily sorry that I have offended thee. May I never offend thee any more. O may I love thee without ceasing, and make it my delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Amen

The Lord's Prayer...

Have mercy upon me, O Lord
Have mercy upon me

May the souls of the faithful
to the mercy of God
rest in peace. Amen
